The recipe I’m sharing today was a total accident. You see, I ran out of jelly when I was making a batch of those homemade pop-tarts and instead of running out to the store, I decided to just try and make a small batch of homemade jam. I wish I would have known how easy it was, because after the first and then the 2nd batch, I don’t see myself ever buying jam from the store again. This is a small batch jam recipe and makes approximately 16 oz of jam! All you need is a bag of frozen berries, sugar, and lemon juice!

My favorite bits:

  • Small batch and done in less than 30 min

  • Can easily customize flavors to your liking

  • Only 3 ingredients!

Notes:

Spoon test: Take a spoonful from the pot and turn it vertically as if you’re going to drip the jam back into the pot. If some sticks to the spoon in sort of a wide drip, the jam is ready! If the jam runs off and is still thin, it hasn’t set yet so boil for another 5 minutes and test again!

1 serving = 1 tbsp, the nutritional data below includes 1 tbsp of ground flaxseed

If you want to preserve any of the jam, simply reuse an old jam jar or a mason jar. Fill the jar with hot jam, clean the rim and then tighten the lid. Place in a pot of water and bring to boil for 10 minutes over medium heat. Pull out of boiling water and set in a cool water bath, gradually adding ice. This step not completely necessary just speeds up the sealing process—you could simply set on a towel or trivet on the counter!

There is something really satisfying when you hear those kids pop and seal! It apparently doesn’t take much to satisfy me these days. 😆
