My Favorite Sugar Cookie Recipe
It’s the season for rolled sugar cookies.
This recipe is perfect for all seasons but especially great for the holiday season. On a time crunch? No worries, you won’t have to wait for the dough to chill. Not big on baking? That’s okay, this recipe calls for simple pantry staples, so you probably won’t have to run to the grocery.
The easiest sugar cookies
Ingredients:
1 cup unsalted butter, room temp
1 cup sugar
2 tsp vanilla (I like to use clear, but dark works too)
1 egg
3 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 tsp salt
2 tsp baking powder
Directions:
Mix butter, sugar, vanilla, and egg until smooth and creamy.
Add in the flour, salt, and baking powder until combined. The texture will be thick and playdo-like.
Between 2 sheets of wax paper, roll out the dough to 1/4” thick. (Alternatively, you could flour your work surface instead of using wax paper.)
Cut with desired cookie cutter, and transfer to a parchment lined baking sheet.
Bake at 350°F for 6-8ish minutes, (depending on how hot your oven gets, check at the 6 minute mark. Bake only until the center doesn’t look wet!)
