Sweet and Simple (last minute) Ideas to Elevate Easter
The older I get and the more we get settled into our home, the more I want to celebrate holidays, special occasions — and honestly, just the ordinary everyday. There’s something really special about preparing food and enjoying it with your family.
We won’t get to be home for Easter this year, so to feel like I’m celebrating a bit, I’m sharing some fun ideas to get into the spirit.
First things first, the food.
The Ultimate Easter Brunch Menu
A big breakfast is always a good idea, but Easter Sunday calls for an epic brunch. Even if you're not religious, it's the perfect excuse to make all of your favorite breakfast foods and have your family or friends over to enjoy them with you. Also, if you have kiddos, it's a great way to keep them entertained until their Easter egg hunt. Here's what I suggest.
For starters: make these chocolate chip biscuits because they'll be gone in less than 10 minutes and mix up a pitcher or two of mimosas—they're the perfect complement to any brunch menu.
For the main course: get your veggies & protein in with this ham, broccoli and cheddar frittata.
For the side pieces: craving pancakes for Easter morning? I got you. Whip up a batch of this delicious blueberry pancake casserole. Interested in something a bit more savory? A carrot tart or a spring radish salad would be the perfect additions.
To round out your meal, add some fresh fruit salad, honey-bourbon glazed bacon and serve everything buffet-style on the kitchen counter (you can even set up the backyard grill for the bacon). The point is for everyone to eat until they're stuffed and then nap it off while watching the original Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory movie. Once you've come-to and woken from your food-coma, a walk around the neighborhood at sunset would be the perfect nightcap.
