Maverix Muse 007 - 7 Things That Made Me Smile This Month

Utica Square
I’VE LEARNED THAT WE ALL CHANGE CONSTANTLY. IT’S RARE TO FIND THAT PERSON WHO IS GROWING WITH YOU IN THE SAME WAY AT THE SAME TIME, WHO ENCOURAGES YOU TO GROW.

A few things that have made me smile this month, so far…

001 Life slowly getting back to the new normal. Last weekend we got to spend the day in Tulsa walking around Cherry Street and Utica Square and dining at some of my favorite places. I loved getting to see other people out and about and enjoying the sunshine and the company of their friends. It’s the small things like enjoying dinner on the patio of your favorite restaurant that we often take for granted. Never again!

002 Covid-19, unfortunately, canceled mom’s plans of coming home for Easter / Mother’s Day and she hasn’t been home since last November! She received the great news that she will finally get to come back to the mainland SO SOON. She’s been working so hard on the island and deserves a break! Getting to hear the excitement and happiness in her voice this morning honestly made my heart smile. Can’t wait to hug her.

003 Getting to see the girls at the salon. Kansas, where my hair/lash ladies reside and work, finally opened salons back up for business. It was nice to catch up with everyone and also get these roots touched up and dead ends cut off.

004 This adorable and oh so convenient to-go jar found at Anthropologie. I’ve been using it to pack my breakfast to take to work. It’s great for greek yogurt, berries, and granola or steel-cut oats and berries! Also snagged a couple of sets of these reusable/travel flatware! I have not dived headfirst into the “waste-free” movement but it does feel good to save paper/plastic where I can.

I don’t know what it is, but preparing and bringing my breakfast to work each day has offered a sense of stability for me. I don’t have to worry about trying to push through until lunchtime on just coffee and water on my stomach…. or raid the vending machine for something to tide me over.

005 After several weeks of on again off again storms, it was nice to see the sun shining. I soaked up the sun while Clara soaked up the clear-ish water stream at Sooner Park.

006 While re-potting one Sunday morning, I noticed some plants had quite a bit of new growth. To say I was excited was an understatement. Sometimes we have to prune away the old or dead leaves to make way for new growth or opportunities.

007 Getting to kick back and relax with friends at Grand Lake on Memorial Day Weekend. It was forecasted to storm the entire weekend but luckily, it ended up being the perfect weather to be on the lake!

Sometimes you just have to take a step back and acknowledge all the small wins in life. What’s made you smile lately?
