My Favorite Childhood Holiday Treat

Today I’m sharing a favorite childhood treat that my mom would always let me help make during her binge-holiday-treat-making-days. Is my mom the only one who would buy so many ingredients and then hammer out a TON of Christmas candies in like 8 hours? I’m not kidding when I say this lady is the queen at Christmas Treats! In one day she would pump out:

No bake cookies, cinnamon rock candy, chocolate fudge, peanut butter fudge, chocolate covered peanut butter balls, divinity and finally my personal favorite, bacon & eggs. Not to mention the occasional banana nut bread.

A true queen!

My favorite bits about todays treat:

  • Only 3 ingredients

  • Sweet and salty

  • Make in less than 30 minutes

Can it get much better than that?

ALL YOU NEED:

  • 1 bag of small pretzel sticks

  • 1 pkg of vanilla almond bark

  • a bunch of yellow m&ms*

*We used to have a local candy store where we’d go and buy just the yellow m&ms but that store has since been closed down. Now I just buy a large bag of m&ms and pick out the yellow and green ones. If I run out of yellow’s I use the green and just call them green eggs & ham!

DIRECTIONS:

  1. On wax paper, lay out pretzels in sets of 3, making sure to leave a couple inches between each set

  2. Melt the almond bark in the microwave in increments of 30 seconds to prevent burning.

  3. Grab a spoon and carefully drizzle an “egg white” in the middle of each set of pretzels. Make sure the almond bark flows a bit over the sides.

  4. Finally, add a yellow m&m in the middle of the egg white. (I like to place the m&m logo facing down for a cleaner look!)

  5. Let cool until the almond bark is hard.

This is a fair warning: try to not eat your body weight in these candies, it’s very easy to do!
